Protecting The Rotten Core

So middle ranking members An Garda Síochána have called for it to be criminalised for an individual to take a video of them while they are on duty.

Later after an outcry from journalist unions and the general public, they considerably rolled back on the idea to only cover specifically where a member or their family was identified on social media.

After recent scandals including the deliberate targeting of whistle blowers, falsification of breath test numbers and despite being 'over stretched but' still being able to field sufficient numbers to protect private companies installing unwanted water meters, it's good to see they have their priorities straight.

It's not like they could have possibly anything to hide in such videos such as :
- Assaulting those who tried to video them
- Joking about raping those they had just arrested
- Planting explosives, weapons and attempting to frame people for a murder that wasn't,
- Protecting massive drug importers due to being informers

Or the most recent and very relevant to the 'recording issue' :

- Threatening  a man that his wife would be arrested and his child put into care if he did not accept responsibility for weapons that were not his

If it was not for the recording this man would undoubtedly have been convicted and sentenced to 5 years+ due to the draconian non jury Special Criminal Court where no evidence apart from assumptions, association and 'classified' intelligence can be enough to convict.
